With experience teaching in Bali and at international festivals, they bring technical skill, cultural depth, and dedication to every class. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced dancer, our instructors in Ubud will guide you with professionalism, connection, and fun while helping you grow within the island’s vibrant dance community.


 

AGUNG

Bachata Sensual Salsa L.A.

Balinese-born Agung is the founder of the Ubud Afro-Latin Dance Community, which he created together with friends and fellow social dancers to grow the Latin dance scene in Ubud. With over 15 years of dance experience and 10 years of teaching international students, he has become a respected figure in Bali’s dance community, known for his style, professionalism, and charismatic approach.

While first specializing in Salsa, Agung is now recognized as Bali’s premiere Bachata Sensual instructor—and the only certified Bachata Sensual teacher in Bali. He completed professional training with Korke & Judith, the creators of Bachata Sensual, and is dedicated to spreading this style through regular classes, workshops, and performances.

Agung also teaches and performs at international Afro-Latin dance events across Asia, further establishing his reputation as both an instructor and an artist. His classes emphasize connection, musicality, and expressive movement, inspiring students to discover the joy and depth of Bachata Sensual and Salsa.

 


 

DEWA

Kizomba – Tango – Zouk – Line Dance – Ballroom

Dewa, often called Bali’s Kizomba master, has been dancing for most of his life. Deeply passionate about music and movement, he trained with world-renowned teachers such as Nelson Campos and Kwenda Lima, and in 2015 he won the International Kizomba Competition (ALIA) in Kuala Lumpur with his partner Gung Is.

As one of the pillars of the Balinese Afro-Latin scene, Dewa has taught countless students at Ubud Studio and played a key role in bringing top international Kizomba instructors to Bali for workshops. Together with Gung Is, he is regularly invited to teach and perform at international festivals in Malaysia, Japan, Australia, and most recently at the Miri Afro-Latin Fiesta in Sarawak and events in South Korea.

Alongside Kizomba, Dewa is now also teaching and leading the growth of West Coast Swing in Bali with Gung Is, expanding the island’s partner dance community with passion and dedication.

 


 

GUNG’IS

Balinese Dance – Kizomba – Ladie styling

Gung Is was born a dancer and performer, beginning her journey with Balinese dance at an early age. A graduate of the prestigious Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Denpasar, she trained in multiple dance styles and quickly gained recognition, performing Balinese dance internationally and winning numerous competitions in Balinese dance, Kizomba, and Latin Ballroom.

With her natural stage presence and versatility, Gung Is has become one of Bali’s most dynamic dance artists. While her roots are in Balinese tradition, her passion is now centered on Kizomba, which she shares with students from around the world through classes and workshops. Alongside her partner Dewa, she has taught and performed at international festivals in Malaysia, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and more.

She is also actively leading the growth of West Coast Swing in Bali with Dewa, bringing fresh energy and diversity to the island’s partner dance community.

 


DHWANI

Brazilian Zouk – Cuban Salsa –  Son – Rumba – and more

Dhwani first specialized in Cuban Salsa and Afro-Cuban dances such as Son, Rumba, Orishas, and Palo. With over 20 years of experience, she co-created Cuban Salsa Indonesia in 2013 and trained with world-renowned Cuban masters, later traveling to Cuba to study the roots and cultural depth of the dance.

Today, Dhwani is recognized as the leading Brazilian Zouk teacher in Bali. She co-created the Brazilian Zouk Bali community in 2021 and became a certified Brazilian Zouk Instructor with the Brazilian Zouk Council in 2023, after completing the 200-hour Zouk Soul Flow Teacher Training. In 2024, she advanced her training in Brazil, focusing on Brazilian Zouk, Lambada, and Samba de Gafieira with top international artists.

Her teaching blends technical precision, cultural awareness, and soulful connection, making her classes in Bali a reference point for anyone wishing to learn Brazilian Zouk and Cuban Salsa at the highest level.
